iPhone 4S Unlocked now available

Apple just silently launched its unlocked version online . The much awaited unlocked version of iPhone 4S comes at following price bands.

A 16GB unlocked iPhone 4S will be $649, a 32GB version will be $749, and a 64GB device will set you back $849.

The apple website says, The unlocked iPhone works only on supported GSM networks, such as AT&T in the U.S. When you travel internationally, you can also use a micro-SIM card from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.

The phone would be shipped in 1-2 weeks . So Apple has started to pre-order the iPhone 4S. Not sure when it would be available in shop. But outside US , Apple launched both versions of locked iPhone 4S and unlocked iPhone 4S on same day. It was reported that in HonkKong the iPhone 4S got sold in 10 minutes from the time it was launched.

In India with the todays Dollar – Rupee rate conversion – a 16GB unlocked iPhone 4S will cost you almost Rs.32450 and the 64GB version will cost you almost Rs.42450 .

So those who have been waiting for a official iPhone 4S – here is the chance to get it from USA and start using it. In India we have many carriers who provide a decent 3G experience and would be able to support all the features of iPhone 4S.

Unlocked Apple iPhone 4S coming in November

Apple has officially announced that it would be launching unlocked iPhone 4S in the month of november.

Though we have seen a huge surge in demand for iPhone 4S, many people have complained about various problems in iPhone 4S. Bad battery problem is one of the major problem with iPhone 4S and iOS5.

The unlocked iPhone 4S will be available in USA but no clear indications of other countries including India. On it’s website, Apple lays out all the purchasing options for its latest flagship phone and tucked away at the bottom is this line,”Or get iPhone unlocked and contract-free. Coming in November.”

So India it seems will now have to wait a bit longer to have its hands on iPhone 4S. Lets wait and look forward to another awaited launch date from Apple.

iPhone 4s is not yet launched in India. The date is not decided and expected to be by end of year or may be pushed to 2012. Last time iphone 4 was launched it took almost 11 months for iphone 4 to reach India. Usually when a new product is launched, the older versions of the product is available at a lower cost. In case of apple that is not always the case.

For e.g:- in US iPhone 3Gs – 8GB is available at $0 but with a contract with telecom service provider. iPhone 4G – 8GB is available at $99  with contract. But iPhone 4S prices – $199 for 16GB , $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB.

So if you already have a iPhone 4 then you should easily upgrade to iPhone 4S and may be service provider can give you some deal. But if not you can just upgrade your iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and enjoy the new features . What you will miss is SIRI which wont be available with iPhone 4 now.

But if you are a new buyer for iPhone and dont have an earlier version of iPhone then this is the best time to jump in the apple family and own a iPhone. A lot of rumors are again spreading around that apple will soon launch iPhone 5 but I dont see that happening till next december 2012.

If you are in India then you are stuck for some time till you can own a iPhone 4S from any telecom service provider. But you can ask your friends or families from US or Canada to get one for you. Unlocked iPhone 4S should be available but it may cost a lot . You can go in for a plan and then cancel the plan so that you end up buying and owning the iPhone at $399 or $499 instead of $649 as is already available in Canada as unlocked iPhone 4S. iphone 4S unlocked Canada , if you have someone in Canada then this is your best option to buy unlocked iphone 4S in India.

Cheaper options could also be available from grey market in Mumbai, Delhi but it comes with its own problems.
