IPL T20 Auction for season 5 – 2012
Posted on January 31st, 2012 No commentsThe player auction for the 2012 IPL will be held on February 4, the governing council has announced. The players from the Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise, which was terminated earlier this year, will be part of the auction. The auction will be held in Bangalore and will be telecast live by SET MAX channel.

In the player auction of IPL T20 each team can spend $2 million in the event meant for players not picked up in last year’s auction. The exceptions are Bangalore and Pune, which have already spent some money retaining their respective ‘replacements’, Chris Gayle and Sourav Ganguly.
As many as 144 players, including Indian Test batsman VVS Laxman, pacer S Sreesanth and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, will go under the hammer when the players auction for the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League is held in Bangalore on February 4.
We are likely to see all the celebrity team owners at the IPL auction venue and would be a good tusel to see how main players are retained and how more costly players are bought.
The Kochi Tusker players are a good bunch and would be a interesting auction to watch for. With the current mood of cricket fans being down after thrashing from Australia, IPL should be a good bait to get back the cricket frenzy mood for all Indian cricket fans.
Pakistan players are not going to be a part of the IPL auction and all of them are going to miss the season 5 of IPL T20 to be held in India in the year 2012.
The auction will be conducted by Richard Madley, a professional auctioneer from England who has conducted each of the previous IPL player auctions. The proceedings will be broadcast live by IPL Indian broadcaster Sony Set Max. The opening match of IPL 2012 will take place on 4 April 2012 in Chennai. The IPL Auction will be held in the Mysore Hall, Royal Gardenia Hotel, Bengaluru, on 4 February 2012. Proceedings will commence at 11:00 am sharp.
