  • New Passport office Pune – Tatkal passport for Minor – my experience

Posted on December 24th, 2012 Dimakh No comments

My experience was just amazing and very very positive one.

The past few experiences at the old passport office in Pune were not so good especially my passport renewal or my daughter Nakshee’s passport. But this time for my sons passport we were told that we will have to now go to the new passport office. I tried to find more details but did not get any information about the new passport office. Also was not able to find any passport agents in pune who could do the passport procedure for us (now I know the reason why – you don’t need one!! ). I found out that an appointment had to be taken online and then only you could go for application process.

Taking an appointment online on http://www.passportindia.gov.in

Was surprised to see a functional and informative website about the passport Seva. After reading all the information online we decided to apply for Tatkal . The challenge was to get a photo for Josh – my son – who is just 3 months old. We were in for a shock when the website clearly mentioned that we need to get our 3 months old son to the passport office for thumb print. The fee for regular application is 1000 and for tatkal its 3000 these fees are for minors below 15 years. for others the fees are 1500 and 3500 respectively.

To take an appointment online first register on the website and you would be issued an user ID and password. The process is very simple and fast. After logging in you can either download the form, fill up the form offline and again upload or simply just submit the form online – recommended strongly by me. Keep all the required information handy but if you do not have all the information, save the form online and come back anytime within 90 days and complete the form online and submit. Once the form is successfully submitted online then you need to take an online appointment. THIS IS THE TOUGHEST TASK. You would be asked to check available slots. Unfortunately all the slots are always full and I had to keep trying for 4-5 days. Here is a trick – The slots open every day at 3PM SHARP. You need to be logged in at least 10 minutes before that time and exactly at the stroke of 3PM enter the captcha code on the show available slots page and decide a time slot in advance as you have to select & book the slot within 6 seconds. With proper planning I was able to complete this process on my 6th attempt. But now that you know the process, you can do it in just 2-3 tries :)

Once you get the appointment, you need to print the application receipt and make sure that you carry the same to the passport office and show it at the security gate for entry in the office.

What documents are required for applying for passport online – fresh and renewal

A good list of documents is available on the passport office official website. The section – Document Advisor – will help you to know exactly what you need.

For various types of applicants, multiple sets of documents may be required – so carefully check the complete list that is applicable for you and double check that you have collected the correct documents. The website has a facility for uploading relevant document if you want to scan and upload in PDF format. But don’t rely on that and carry all documents with you even if you have uploaded the documents. One golden rule that needs to be strictly followed for all documents – Please bring original documents along with two self-attested photocopies at the time you visit the passport office. In our case as the applicant was minor we had to carry 2 photographs separately , for others the photo is clicked at the passport office. But if you are submitting the application form offline then the new passport size photo is in the size of 4.5cm X 3.5cm with white background. Once you have completed the process be ready with a file from which you can easily pull out required documents when you are at the passport office. For minor Annexure H (Declaration of Parent/Guardian for Minor Passports) is mandatory . Annexure I was not asked by the passport officer though we had carried it with us. For a minor Annexure F(Verification Certificate for Tatkaal Passports) is not required and was not asked by the passport officer, but both me and Amita had our passports, our address proof and original birth certificate for minor.

How to reach new passport office in Pune

You would like to know Address and map of new passport office in Pune here is the exact address – The new passport office in Pune is located at Survey No 79/1 Kasturi Zero One, Opposite Ganga Orchid, Ghorpadi Mundhwa Road, Mundhwa, Pune – 411036. At the end of North Main Road in Koregaon Park, take a right turn and on the left hand side you will see the Kasturi Zero One commercial complex. The passport office is located in the same building on the ground floor.

Process inside passport office in Pune

If your appointment is at 10AM you need to reach 15-20 minutes before the appointment. The security guard will send people in batches, with a gap of 15 minutes, inside the passport office. The passport office is a proper air conditioned and well maintained premises, You will not find any old customary government office atmosphere with old chairs, falling ceilings, littered floors, dirty walls, non functional fans etc but an office of an international calibre – its as good as – being in the American consulate office!! . After an initial security check you would be requested to go to one of the 4-5 counters at the scrutiny centre in the passport office. Once all your documents are verified, you would be issued a token number.

    Interview process at passport office

A smartly dressed, friendly staff will assist you to a comfortable seating lounge. The lounge is well equipped with large screens on which your token number and the respective counter number would be displayed. While you wait for your token number to be displayed , you can go to the small food counter and have some nice snacks and tea or coffee. The sitting lounge also has a access to a clean and well maintained wash room and even feeding/changing area for minors and infants. These are the facilities inside passport office. Your waiting time in the lounge should not be more than 15-20 mins and you would be assisted by a staff member to your counter. You can also approach the help desk here if you have any queries and you would be promptly serviced.

Once you reach the designated counter, you will again be seated in a comfortable chair in front of the officer and then your form would be reviewed online, original documents checked and then if everything is fine then your file would be processed further after taking your photo and thumb prints. Even for the minor the thumb print is done. We got a priority treatment as we had a 3 months old baby with us. This I experienced for the first time in any government office in India. You need to pay the fees at this counter in cash. You would be asked to visit two more counters and then guided to exit counter. This entire exercise should not take more than 20 mins.

So the maximum time that you may need to spend from entering the passport office and exiting the passport office should not be more than 2 hours.

    Delivery of passport

Passport Tatkal PuneBy the time we reached home , the status was updated on the passport site and it was mentioned that once the passport is despatched we would be intimated by email and SMS. Within 48 hours I got an email as well as SMS that the passport has been processed and was being sent by Speed Post. They even sent me the tracking number for speed post and which I was able to check online. By speed post the passport reached our home on the third day after our interview date. This was an extremely swift and hassle free process. In our case , being a minor, no police verification was involved so this step was skipped. But for others this may be involved so do check about it in detail.

The entire passport management process is completely outsourced to TCS and is well managed by them. This was a pleasant experience for us and even though we had our 3 months old son with us, we had no inconvenience and the friendly staff at the passport office was extremely helpful and cooperative and gave priority treatment for the minor infant.

  • Sachin Tendulkar retirement

Posted on November 24th, 2012 Dimakh No comments

Sachin tendulkar failed again in making a good score against England in the second test match in mumbai, his home town. All news channels, online media, social networking sites are focusing in this one point – Sachin tendulkar retirement.

English: Sachin Tendulkar at Adelaide Oval

English: Sachin Tendulkar at Adelaide Oval (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Sachin himself has clarified that he will think about retirement after the England tournament. He has 3 more innings to play and prove to himself that he is fit. After have played 192 test matches no one should doubt his technique but he is never been clean bold so many times in a gap of such few innings.

All the ex players seem to be looking forward to retirement of sachin tendulkar , but they are cautious and want to leave the decision to the master.

The great players like Sunil gavaskar, Kapil dev and others have retired in their own style and as per their wish. But the recent retirements from legends like vvs laxman and the great Rahul dravid have been of a different kind.

The whole world would be watching Sachin and that day would be a record of its own just like his other records. It’s now high time that he gives a serious thought and decide which cricket he wants to retire from and which he wants to continue playing. Test matches , one day international, IPL.

  • iPhone 5 launched – reaching India in november

Posted on September 13th, 2012 Dimakh No comments

The much hyped iPhone 5 has been launched by Tim Cook in a grand function in san francisco, but the overall impact seems to be tremendously diluted.

We do not see any new fancy features or any new innovations.. All routine stuff but just in an upgraded version and a taller version.

Below is a coverage from iPhone launch review – the first impressions

    By Edward C. Baig

The new iPhone 5 has the same retina display as on its predecessor. But Apple finally upped the screen size to 4 inches, up from the 3.7-inch display that was on all its predecessors. That permits a fifth row of app icons on the home screen. It’s still a smaller screen than the display on many rival Android devices. But the extra real estate is welcome, just the same.

Apple says the new device a little taller than its earlier models and is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever made — 18% thinner, in fact, than its immediate predecessor, the iPhonje 4S. And the iPhone 5 is one-fifth lighter than the 4S. It is made entirely of glass and aluminum.

And yes — as had been rumored and as I had hoped — the iPhone 5 can tap into speedy wireless 4G LTE networks. Apple will be working in the U.S. with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless, as well as several other carriers in Canada and overseas.

Apple says users will get up to 8 hours of 3G talk time off its battery

The new iPhone runs off a zippy A6 chip, Apple says, meaning you can launch photos, music, and various apps much quicker. I’m anxious to compare this to its predecessors.

It has an improved iSight camera that Apple says increases performance in low light. Apple says it can capture pictures 40% faster than before. Apple’s Phil Schiller joked about the pictures you can take with the new camera: “Kids look happier.” (I’ll let you know if I’m happier after taking my own pix.) With the new phone, you can also capture panorama images. On stage, Apple showed a stunning 28-megapixels panoramic image of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Apple also improved the front-facing FaceTime camera. And the phone has three microphones, and what the company says are better speakers. Apple has incorporated new “wideband audio” technology to bolster sound by filling up more of the frequency spectrum.

Now a controversial topic: iPhone has used the same 30-pin connector that has been on the iPhone since 2003. Of course, there are now lots of other ways to connect — Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi syncing. And now Apple is evolving the connector to something called Lightning, playing off the name of Apple’s other emerging connector, Thunderbolt. The new connector is 80% smaller and Apple is working with Bose, JBL and others. But what of all the accessories you have that use the older connector, like those in your car. Apple is coming out with an adapter that would let you hook up those other devices. But this is a potential inconvenience, and it’s not yet known if Apple will throw in the adapter for free or charge for it. Either way, it’s just something else you have to worry about taking with youâ??and not losing.

At the core of the new iPhone, of course, is the previously announced iOS 6 software upgrade. Apple is late to the party with turn-by-turn audio directions, a feature that has been on Android phones for a while. (Third-party developers have helped fill the void on the iPhone up to now). But better late than never, and the built-in Maps and directions in iOS 6 are very sweet. You can zoom in to get virtual photo-realistic tours of an area through Maps. During the event, Apple zoomed in on London’s Big Ben.

IOS 6 made enhancements to Notification Center and Safari. Through iCloud Tabs, you can access webpages that were open on your computer back home. Among the new Mail features is the ability to make certain senders your VIPs, so you can easily access their mail amidst all the junk.

I’m particularly high on another iOS 6 addition called Passbook, a repository for boarding passes, coupons and such. You can even display your boarding pass from the iPhone lock screen.

With iOS 6 comes Shared Photo Streams. As the name suggests, it’s a way to share images with friends.

Apple has also made improvements to Siri, letting you ask the phone’s chatty virtual assistant for sports scores, movie recommendations and to launch apps.

  • iPhone 5 launching soon may reach India early in October 2012

Posted on September 6th, 2012 Dimakh No comments

Apple today sent members of the media invites to an event in San Francisco next week, where the company is expected to unveil the next version of the iPhone. Just like its iPad reveal earlier this year, Apple is holding at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.

iPhone 5 launchThe invite says only “It’s almost here,” with a shadowed “5″ underneath the September 12 date. The event will begin at 10 a.m. in San Francisco. Many bloggers and websites will cover the event with a live blog, so mark that time and keep watching out for updates and live coverage from various sites.

Its also expected that the iPhone 5 device would go on sale nine days later on Friday, September 21 and may soon reach India in the month of October.

We will also see an official launch of iOS 6 by Apple.

Now that the launch of iPhone 5 has been almost officially declared by apple, Analyst Predicts 10M iPhone 5 Sales During First Week.

Analysts have been predicting that the iPhone 5 could be one of Apple’s biggest product launches of all time. But in a note on Tuesday, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, estimated that Apple could possibly sell up to 10 million iPhone 5 units in the first week.

While the ship date for the next-gen phone has not been confirmed, Apple is expected to release it on Sept. 21, nine days after it’s announced.

“We believe that if the 21st is the actual ship date, Apple could sell 6-10 million iPhone 5s in the final week of September barring supply issues,” Munster wrote.

Each new iPhone model has logged stronger first weekend unit sales than the last. The iPhone 4S, for example, sold more than 4 million units in its first three days on the market, while the iPhone 4 sold 1.7 million, and the iPhone 3GS sold more than one million.

Munster further estimated that Apple could sell between 26 million and 28 million total iPhones during the September quarter. This is higher than the current Wall Street expectation, which puts iPhone sales between 22 and 23 million units during the period.

As Munster noted, Apple may be able to hit these high sales numbers as long as its supply chain can deliver. Reports have cropped up, however, that Sharp delayed plans to start shipping iPhone screens due to manufacturing difficulties.

BANGALORE: Hoping to make a comeback to international cricket with the Twenty20 World Cup in September, Yuvraj Singh on Monday batted for the first time after undergoing treatment for a rare germ cell cancer earlier this year.

“Grilling session at nca! Happy to hit a few balls after almost 6 mnths. Strength is ok need to build on cardio!! Target t20 w cup. Let’s c,” Yuvraj tweeted. Yuvraj is in his second week of rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. “I am right now in the second week of rehabilitation and I am feeling good. “The target is the T20 World Cup, and hopefully, I will be able to come just before that,” reiterated the 30-year-old left-hander, who has not appeared in any form of the game since last November when he was diagnosed with the disease. Having already returned to light training, Yuvraj had also said that that his recovery was going well, and is enjoying a healthier lifestyle. “I’m feeling good. It’s been two months since I finished my chemotherapy. Initially my energy levels were low but now I am following my diet and eating loads of food and it’s getting better,” he said.

    Rosary School Pune

Way back in 1958 on the 25th of March a dream sprouted on a rented premise at Camp, Pune. It was The Rosary School. This dream belonged to the Visionaries—Mrs. W. Aranha and Mr. A.G. Aranha. It was their experience and passion for education that made them take up this endless journey of knowledge. This small start became bigger and bigger and it soon evolved into a well-known and performance-conscious institution called Rosary School. Located at 14, Dr, Ambedkar Road, Pune, Rosary rose to become a full-fledged, best multi-divisional school in pune providing knowledge and inspiration to thousands.

Today after fifty one years Rosary School Pune has risen to become one of top ranking schools in Pune. Its a complete dream come true for the Rosary School.

In 2002, the Rosary management realized the increasing response to the brand Rosary. They also saw the need for quality education across the length and breadth of Pune. This apart the demand from people had grown louder and this led to the opening of new Rosary Schools in different socio-geographic areas in Pune. And this is how a string of Rosary School came into being in and around Pune. The overwhelming response to the Rosary schools at Salunkhe Vihar Road and at Viman Nagar prompted more schools. And thereby came the Rosary School at Kothrud in 2003. Soon after schools at Warje and Bibewadi started. Later Hadapsar and Dhankawdi also had the brand Rosary edge.

  • Gahunje Stadium IPL live match experience and review in Pune

Posted on April 15th, 2012 Dimakh 16 comments

We had a great time watching the Pune Warriors India and Chennai SuperKing IPL T20 match live at the brand new stadium – Subrata Sahara Stadium Gahunje in Pune. This was my first match at the grand stadium and it was an amazing experience. If you are planning to go to a live match then read all the points below about what to do before , during and after the match at the stadium.

Booking the Tickets for IPL cricket Match – online on www.bookmyshow.com

My friend Deepak asked me  to see if we could go for a match at the IPL Pune Warriors new den – The Subrata Stadium. I booked the tickets for the CSK – PWI match, I booked 6 tickets for both the families and the booking was a good experience on bookmyshow website. Most of the seats were booked so we ended up buying tickets of Rs.1500/- each. Fortunately we did not have problems in getting tickets couriered to us and the tickets were delivered 2 days before the match. You can also get tickets offline from Deccan Gymkhana, PYC or INOX in Pune. But booking online is the easiest option and most convenient.

What to carry inside the Stadium

We wanted to know if we should carry water, food along with us inside the stadium. Will we have adequate facilities inside. Amita was more worried about carrying special food for our  31/2 years old daughter Nakshee as she had to be looked after for almost 5 hours. I had found out online that we are not allowed to carry any eatables, water, purses inside and YES that turned out to be true. So remember – DO NOT CARRY any eatables, NO WATER bottles, NO PURSES or bags. The security guys will simple throw it in trash !! You need not worry as you would be in for a BIG surprise just as we got a surprise when we reached inside the venue. To be on the safer side we did carry sandwiches, soft drinks and other eatables but kept it in the car and this turned out to be a good decision later. Read on to know more.

How to reach the Subroto roy sahara stadium pune

We stay just 10 minutes away from the Expressway. So we started at 6 PM for the 8 PM match – Almost 2 hours before. Just when we crossed the Hinjewadi flyover – the CSK team Bus crossed us. Everyone on the road was waving to them and it was like a festive experience. On the road leading to the express way we had a complete traffic jam as all cars were headed to the stadium. The distance which we normally cross in 10 minutes, this time it took almost 45 mins. So I strongly recommend that if you are travelling from somewhere inside the city, start atleast 3 hours before the match.  On the road you will see enough signs and you wont have any problems reaching the stadium. Look out for separate roads for 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers. You would also be guided by a very friendly POLICE groups on the road. They have done a fantastic job in handling the crowd on the road and at the venue.

    Parking at the Gahunje Stadium

This was a nightmare and a complete chaos. Though the MCA management has tried to do their best , the parking lot is one horrible area where the ground is not even properly leveled. We had to park at far away parking zone and it was atleast a 20 minutes walk from the actual parking, before we could enter the stadium. Watch out for the big stones on the road while walking back and for the huge potholes while driving in this area. If you reach early then you may be lucky to get a parking somewhere near the stadium entry but be prepared to park somewhere far away and walk for 20 minutes.

Shopping at the Pune Warriors Sahara Stadium

I am not talking about any autographed bat or some memorabilia but you will see a HUGE gang of hawkers and sellers who are selling everything from PWI flags, Malinga style colored hair, the IPL noisy trumptes, flashing horns etc. But do not buy too many of those especially the flags with sticks, as the security will throw it in trash.

    Security at the Stadium

Once you cross the big hurdle of parking chaos and the long walk from the parking to the security gate, the journey after that is very smooth and fast. The security is efficient and fast and you will be guided by the sign-ages to quickly  reach your stand. Look out for the stand name printed on your ticket and follow the directions. You will go through 2 levels of security check and a digital scanner to validate your entry ticket. If you are carrying any banned items like water bottles, sticks, purses, bags etc you will have to throw it away or may be look out for some counter to deposit material and collect it later but my strong recommendation is DO NOT carry anything with you.

    Inside the Stadium

Once you clear the security and are inside the stand, be ready for a magnificent experience. You would be welcomed with complimentary cold water and chips and snacks for everyone and you can have as much as you want. This is not sufficient for your dinner but a good relief  after the walk and I am sure you would be thirsty. You get clean packed water in small plastic glasses which are use and throw. So do not carry any water bottles as you have sufficient and free drinking water inside the stadium. I am not sure if this is only for certain range of tickets. Inside the stadium we had a constant flow of authorized food vendors selling pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, ice creams, popcorns, soft drinks. So our earlier apprehension of what to carry as food was settled as all of us enjoyed the food. Dominos is the official Pizza partner for the stadium and they served hot pizzas which were a delight to eat in the surroundings. You get variety of VEG and NON VEG food inside.

You will be guided to your seat by a smartly dressed staff member of bookmyshow. Once you get a hang of the surroundings you will realize that  the entire ground just looks awesome . The lights, the crowd, the DJ and then the players!! The atmosphere is really electrifying and a completely different experience from what you see on TV – Setmax official IPL channel.

The Live Match Experience  of IPL – Pune Warriors Vs Chennai SuperKings

Click here to watch the video
Though we started 2 hours before the match we just managed to reach a few minutes before the toss. It was a pleasure to watch the world famous 2 Indian Captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni and legendary DADA – Sourav Ganguly. Chennai won the toss and elected to bat against the strong last match score of 200+ . The stadium was packed with enthusiastic crowd and the live DJ kept the crowd busy. We were in for a surprise when we realized that on our seats PWI team had provided a HUGE numbers of PWI flags to wave and a gift to carry it back home as a memory of the experience. So all of a sudden the entire stadium started looking blue in the new PWI colors with everyone waving the flags given to them as a gift !! The cheering was ON right from the first ball and continued through out the innings . The crowd cheered every boundary, sixer and wickets and when a fielder came near the boundary the crowd erupted in support and cheering. The cameras kept the crowd busy and waving and everyone wished that their faces would be flashed on live TV for their friends and family. The suspended overhead camera was a perfect piece of technology that captured on field as well as stadium happenings. After restricting the last year winners CSK to 150+, PWI looked dominating and ready to reach the target. The team played well and finally emerged winners in a thrilling win against the CSK.

Facilities in the Subroto Sahara PWI stadium

Except for the horrible parking arrangements, the facilities inside the stadium were just awesome. clod drinking water, good food, clean toilets and well maintained , nice chairs, excellent sign-ages , nice sound system, friendly staff and security. This ensured a very happy experience for the spectators and I am sure the VIP treatment would be well cherished by all the cricket fans and cricket lovers.

Once the match was over by 11.30 PM it took almost 45 minutes for us to walk all the way back to the car park. The parking lot was full all with a single road for everyone to walk to the parking as well as for cars to go out the entire road was blocked and we were sitting in the car for almost 1 hour before we could actually take an exit from the stadium to the road. We had carried sandwiches and soft drinks so we had a late night dinner in the car. We reached the road well past 1 PM and were surprised to see all the hotels packed on the road with hungry cricket fans. So plan about your dinner well in advance and be prepared for a very very late night outing before you reach home.

But overall a great experience and we had an awesome outing for the family. So yes IPL is a great family outing opportunity and everyone should experience this in the stadium. We are already planning for the next match and looking out for tickets on bookmyshow.
